Author Crash Barry on The Euthanist

"Daring and original, Alex Dolan’s evocative prose takes you on a wild ride with an unforgettable (and literal) femme fatal. A lethal mix of beauty, physical prowess, compassion and a touch of freakiness, the character Kali stays with you long after you finish this compelling debut novel."

—Crash Barry, author of Marijuana Valley and Sex, Drugs and Blueberries

Crash Barry has been a good friend since I was playing music shows at the Free Street Taverna in Portland, ME. He's one of the most naturally gifted storytellers I've ever met, and we started getting to know each other when he would read short stories over the music we played in my band at the time. When I was running "The End of the World" arts festivals, his readings would often be more compelling than some of the Pulitzer Prize-winning writers we featured.

I've long been a fan of his writing, and his organic gift of narrative. Part of his gift comes from living a full, fascinating life, and part of it comes from a keen journalst's eye. For me, his stories have the same earthy, intimate feel of Ray Carver's writing. I highly recommend checking out his work.

Film buffs—the film version of Sex, Drugs and Blueberries will be released this year.
